Watering Tips

SPRING: 2-3 TIMES A WEEK FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES PER ZONE (SECTION OF YOUR YARD)

SUMMER: 4-7 TIMES A WEEK FOR APPROXIMATELY 45 MINUTES PER ZONE

FALL: BASICALLY THE SAME WATERING PATTERN AS THE SPRING

SEEDING: SHOULD BE DONE IN THE SPRING OR FALL (FALL BEING PREFERRED) THE OBJECT IS TO KEEP THE SEED MOIST THE MAJORITY OF THE DAY. WATER 3-4 TIMES A DAY FOR APPROXIMATELY 5-15 MINUTES PER ZONE

*WATERING TIMES ARE APPROXIMATE AND SHOULD BE ADJUSTED BASED ON SOIL DENSITY, SUN/SHADE EXPOSURE, AND AMOUNT OF RAINFALL FOR ALL OF THE ABOVE.

 *****************************

Sunnier areas obviously need longer watering than shady areas. Sandy soil tends to drain very quickly, therefore it needs to be watered longer. Clay soil is more compact so it drains much slower and needs less water.(over watering clay soil causes water to pool at the base of your plants which would create crown rot and fungus.)

***********************

The ideal time of day to water is early am. If you water during the heat of mid-day, you will lose the water to evaporation before it can reach the roots. Watering later in the day could leave water on your plants during the cooler evening hours and that might cause fungus to develop. (This is still better than watering mid-day if you have no other choice.)
